WASHINGTON, DC, February 10, 2020 – Today the National Sleep Foundation announces that Sleep Awareness Week® 2020 will take place on March 8-14.
The annual Sleep Awareness Week celebrates sleep health and encourages the public to prioritize sleep to improve their overall health and well-being. The national campaign will provide valuable information about the benefits of optimal sleep and how sleep affects health, well-being, and safety. The week begins with the release of the results of the National Sleep Foundation’s annual Sleep in America® poll. Also at that time, the National Sleep Foundation will release the results of the quarterly Sleep Health Index® and make available shareable messages, infographics, and social media posts.
“Sleep Awareness Week shines a light on the importance of sleep health,” says National Sleep Foundation CEO David Cloud. “Sleepiness is not normal. We want everyone to feel healthy and refreshed by getting the most out of their sleep.”
Sleep Awareness Week leads up to the start of Daylight Saving Time when most Americans lose an hour of sleep. The change to Daylight Saving Time reminds us to make beneficial changes in our sleep routines to improve our sleep health.
